For those who served

Your VA benefits can pay for this. We'll help you use them.

Many veterans never use the home-modification grants they've earned because the paperwork is a maze. We write the itemized estimates and drawings the VA asks for and work alongside your VA team and County Veterans Service Officer — near Whiteman AFB and across the region.

How we help with the VA process

Free home visit

We look at your home and talk through what would actually make daily life easier.

VA-ready estimate

An itemized quote, photos and simple drawings — the paperwork your VA team asks for.

You apply, we support

You (or your CVSO) submit the application. We answer the VA's questions and revise if needed.

Approved → installed

Once approved, we schedule, install and supply the completion photos the VA needs.

Grant amounts are FY 2026 maximums published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; SAH and SHA limits adjust each fiscal year. Eligibility is decided by the VA, not by HomeSafe. We're an independent contractor and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the VA.

Childproofing

Childproofing that grows with your kids

The best time to childproof is before your baby starts crawling — usually around 6 months. Here's what matters at each stage, so you only pay for what you need right now.

🍼0–6 months

Getting ready

  • Anchor dressers, bookcases & TVs
  • Smoke & CO alarms in the right spots
  • Cordless or cleated window blinds
  • Crib away from windows
🐣6–12 months

Crawlers

  • Outlet covers in every room
  • Gates at the top and bottom of stairs
  • Locks on low cabinets & drawers
  • Corner guards on sharp edges
🚶1–3 years

Walkers & climbers

  • Window stops (screens don't stop falls)
  • Stove knob covers & oven lock
  • Toilet & appliance locks
  • Door-top locks for laundry & garage
🧗3+ years

Explorers

  • Door & pool alarms
  • Upper-cabinet locks for meds & cleaners
  • Fireplace hearth guards
  • Re-check anchors as kids climb more

🪜 Top of stairs = hardware-mounted gate

Pressure-mounted gates can pop loose when pushed. At the top of a staircase, the gate should be screwed into studs or a banister kit. That's how we install them.

📺 Tip-overs are silent and fast

A toddler climbing an open dresser drawer can bring the whole thing down. Every tall dresser, bookcase and TV gets anchored into a stud — not just drywall.

🧲 Locks you don't hate

We use hidden magnetic locks inside cabinets, so there's nothing ugly on the outside, and grown-ups open them with a magnet key in one second.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers

How accurate is the online quote?

For most small and mid-size jobs — grab bars, rails, childproofing — the online price is the price. During your free visit we confirm wall types and measurements. If something's different (say, tile over plaster), we tell you the new price before we start. Larger projects like shower conversions show a range until we've measured.

Can I book online?

Yes. Use Book a Visit to choose a time for your free in-home safety visit. If you build a quote first, your details and quote number carry over automatically. Once your quote is approved, you can pick your install day the same way.

Wood or aluminum ramp — which should I choose?

Wood is usually the lower price and can be painted or stained to match your home, but it takes 1–3 days to build, needs sealing every few years, and may need a city permit. Aluminum installs in about a day, needs no upkeep, and can be removed or reused if the need is temporary. Your quote shows both prices side by side.

Is there a minimum?

Yes — our minimum visit is $149. Most families bundle a few items (a couple of grab bars plus a handheld shower, or a full round of childproofing) and land well above it. Your quote shows the minimum automatically if it applies.

Do you bring the products, or do I buy them?

We bring commercial-grade hardware that we trust, and it's included in your price. Already bought your own baby gates or grab bars? No problem — tell us in the notes and we'll quote install-only.

Can you help me use my VA benefits?

Yes. We prepare the itemized estimate, photos and simple drawings that VA programs like HISA, SHA and SAH ask for, and we'll work with your VA team or County Veterans Service Officer. The VA decides eligibility and approval; we make the contractor side easy.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry general liability insurance through NEXT Insurance and can send a certificate of insurance on request.

Can you install in a rental?

Absolutely — renters and landlords both call us. Childproofing like magnetic locks and anchors can be removed later with minimal patching. For anything permanent, we're happy to talk with your landlord.

I'm shopping for my parents. Can I handle this from out of town?

Yes. Build the quote, add a note, and we'll coordinate the visit with you and your parent together — by phone or video. We send photos when the work is done.

How long does installation take?

Most childproofing and grab-bar jobs take a few hours. Ramps usually take a day. Shower conversions typically take one to two weeks, depending on materials.

How do I pay?

Small jobs are paid when the work is complete. Larger projects have a deposit and progress payments laid out in your written agreement. For VA-funded work, we follow the VA's payment process.
